Allison Mitzel '11

Allison Mitzel, Class of 2011, was a four-year varsity golfer who helped lead Poland to some of the most successful seasons in program history. As a freshman, she helped the team qualify for Regionals for just the second time in school history. As a sophomore, she was a key contributor to the 2008 Division II State Championship team, shooting 158 (84-74) to finish as the team's top performer and place 14th overall. In 2009, she helped Poland earn a State Runner-Up finish, placing 13th individually with a score of 164 (82-82). During her senior season, Allison won both the Sectional and Regional individual championships, leading the Lady Bulldogs back to the State Championships, where they again finished as State Runner-Up. She earned First Team All-Ohio honors after placing fifth with a two-round total of 153 (79-74). Allison was also a four-year letter winner and a member of the National Honor Society.

After high school, Allison attended Youngstown State University on a full golf scholarship, competing for the Penguins from 2011–2015. She played in a school-record 99 rounds, won three collegiate tournaments, including the Horizon League Conference Championship as a sophomore, and set the program's 18-hole scoring record with a 67 at the Dayton Flyer Invitational. During her senior season, she helped Youngstown State win the Horizon League Championship and advance to NCAA Regionals for the first time in school history. Allison was a two-time Academic All-Horizon League selection, two-time Horizon League Women's Golfer of the Week, and a two-time WGCA All-American Scholar.

Following her collegiate career, Allison earned her MBA from Saint Francis University, where she served as the Women's Golf Graduate Assistant before becoming the Interim Head Coach. She later completed her PGA Certification while serving as Assistant Golf Professional at Laconia Country Club in New Hampshire and was elected to PGA Class-A Membership in 2018. During the winter months, she works as a seasonal Assistant Golf Professional at Kensington Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida. Allison is the daughter of Lori and George Mitzel.
