Bill Hiznay

Bill Hiznay was an outstanding football and track athlete at Poland High School, earning three varsity letters in both sports.

In football, Bill was a three-year letterman and a dominant two-way player at offensive tackle and defensive end. As a senior, he was named Second Team Class AA All-State Offensive Tackle, earned First Team All-Northeastern Ohio honors, and was selected First Team All Tri-County League. He also served as co-captain of Poland’s 10–0 Tri-County League Championship team.

In track and field, Bill was also a three-year letterman. His top performances in the shot put (48 feet, 10 inches) and discus (143 feet, 9½ inches) ranked among the best all-time marks in Poland High School history. He also established the school's freshman shot put record, showcasing his talent from the beginning of his high school career.
