David Burnbrier

David Burnbrier is recognized as one of the greatest baseball players in Poland High School history. A four-year varsity letter winner, he earned All-MVAC honors in all four seasons and is believed to be the only player selected at two different positions—as a first baseman in 1987 and 1988 and as a pitcher in his other two seasons.

During his senior year, David was named All-Ohio, selected as the Mahoning County Athlete of the Year, and chosen for the Mahoning County All-Star High School Team. He established Poland's career strikeout record, threw three one-hitters, recorded games with 16 strikeouts twice and 17 strikeouts once, demonstrating his dominance on the mound.

In 1989, David played for the U.S. Junior Olympic Team, which competed against several national teams in Spain. One of his most memorable high school moments came during the 1988–89 season against Columbiana, when he hit one of the longest home runs in Poland history, estimated at 475 feet.

After graduation, David attended Palm Beach College in Florida to continue his baseball career, but an arm injury unfortunately brought his playing career to an end.
