Ed DuPay (1973)
Ed DuPay was an outstanding two-sport athlete at Poland High School, excelling in tennis and basketball.
In tennis, Ed enjoyed one of the most successful careers in school history. As a sophomore, he advanced to the State Tournament quarterfinals in doubles after winning the Sectional Championship and finishing as the District runner-up. As a junior, he reached the State Tournament semifinals after capturing both the Sectional and District singles championships. During his senior season, he again advanced to the State Tournament quarterfinals, winning the Sectional singles title and earning District runner-up honors.
Following high school, Ed continued his tennis career at Heidelberg College and later Xavier University, where he received the prestigious Paul O'Conner Scholar/Athlete Award in 1977.
In basketball, Ed was a member of the 1972 Poland team that won the Tri-County League Championship and advanced to the Ohio State Semifinals. As a senior, he also played on Poland's Mahoning Valley Conference Championship team, contributing to another successful season for the Bulldogs.
