Ed Galmish
Ed Galmish was an outstanding all-around athlete at Poland High School, competing in football, basketball, and track. He earned his greatest recognition in football, where he was named an All Tri-County Back and an All Northeast Ohio Performer. Ed became the first Poland running back to rush for 1,000 yards in just eight games, scoring 13 touchdowns during that remarkable season.
His athletic success earned him a full athletic scholarship to Youngstown State University (YSU). Although he suffered an early career injury, he retained his scholarship and graduated in 1969.
Following college, Ed began his coaching career, playing under Hall of Famer Bill VanBrocklin before returning to Poland to coach alongside Hall of Famer Dave Pavlansky. He later coached football in Canton, Ohio, and Largo, Florida. At the time of this Hall of Fame recognition, Ed was teaching Special Education in Florida.
