Frank Yelich (1942)

Frank Yelich was a standout three-sport athlete at Poland High School, lettering in basketball, track, and football. In basketball, he was a four-year letterman and graduated as Poland's all-time leading scorer with 792 points. He established school records for points in a game (30) and points in a season (295). As a senior, he led Poland to the Mahoning County Class B Championship and the Sectional Class B Championship.

In track, Yelich was the leading point scorer at the district meet during his senior year, winning the shot put, high hurdles, and discus, while placing second in the high jump. He also finished second in the shot put at the state meet as a senior and was a four-year letterman.

In football, he was a three-year letterman and played on two Mahoning County Championship teams.
