Howard “Butch” Seidel '66
Howard “Butch” Seidel was a two-sport athlete for the Poland Bulldogs from 1963 to 1966. He participated in both football and track and earned honors for both.
In football, “Butch” was a three-year starter at linebacker and guard. He was a First Team All Tri-County League selection in 1965 at guard. In 1964 he was a Second Team All Tri-County League selection also at guard. During his career he earned the Poland Bulldog Blue Star Award (Player of the Week) six times. He was also crowned Poland’s Homecoming King in 1965.
In addition to his accomplishments on the gridiron, “Butch” also ran track and excelled in both the half-mile and shot put. He earned four letters in track and the Poland Track Team won the Tri-County Meet in 1966.
For his efforts on the football field, “Butch” earned a full scholarship to play football at Youngstown State University and lettered in 1967 and 1968.
