Jim Perry (1990)

Jim Perry was a standout three-sport athlete at Poland High School and became the first golfer inducted into the Poland Hall of Fame. He was a four-year letter winner in golf and earned All-MVC honors during his high school career.

In basketball, Perry was a three-year letter winner at point guard, earned Mahoning Valley All-Star recognition, and still holds the school record for the highest free throw percentage in a single season.

He also competed in baseball, earning a varsity letter and Honorable Mention All-Mahoning Valley Conference honors.

After graduating, Perry attended Youngstown State University on a golf scholarship and competed for the YSU golf team. In 1994, he was named Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year, and in 2000, he won the Northeast Ohio Amateur Invitational Championship by an impressive 13-stroke margin.
