Jim Thullen (1959)

Jim Thullen was one of the finest football linemen in Poland High School history and also excelled in basketball.

In football, Jim earned All Tri-County League honors as a guard in 1958 and was one of only 11 players selected to the First Team All Tri-County League that season. He also received Honorable Mention All Tri-County League recognition in 1957. His outstanding play continued at the collegiate level, where he was named All-Methodist Little All-American First Team, NAIA All-District First Team, and earned four varsity letters while playing football at Ohio Northern University.

In basketball, Jim was a two-year letterman and helped lead Poland to an outstanding 34–7 overall record. As a junior, he contributed to a team that captured the Tri-County League Championship, adding to his legacy as a versatile and accomplished student-athlete.
