Lorie Ceremuga '78

Lorie Ceremuga, Class of 1978, was a three-sport athlete at Poland High School, competing in basketball, softball, and track & field. She played four years of varsity basketball (1975–1978) and, as a senior in 1978, was selected to the MAC All-Star Team.

In softball, Lorie was a three-year letter winner and earned All-MVCC honors at shortstop during both her junior and senior seasons. In 1977, her team finished 11–0 in league play.

In track & field, Lorie competed for two years as a shot putter. She set a school record in the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 11¼ inches and won first place at the Jesse Owens Track Meet held at Pitt Stadium.

Lorie continued her academic and athletic career at Youngstown State University, where she received both an academic and athletic scholarship. She became a four-year softball letter winner, and her team won two Ohio State Championships.

While at YSU, Lorie was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Engineering Society, and the National Mathematics Society. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a Master's Degree in Mathematics.
