Matt Felt '83

Matt Felt, Class of 1983, was a standout lineman and three-year letterman for the Poland Bulldogs football team from 1980 through 1982. He earned First Team honors on the Mahoning Valley Conference Team, First Team Northeast Ohio, and the United Press International AA All-Ohio Team. Matt was also selected to play in the 1983 North/South All-Star Game before continuing his football career at the United States Naval Academy, where he competed at the NCAA Division I level.

During his senior year at the Naval Academy, Matt became the first center in school history to be named the team’s Most Valuable Player, earning the prestigious Silver Helmet Award. He also received Associated Press Second Team All-East honors and was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-American.

Following graduation, Matt was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy in 1988. Over a distinguished 31-year career in the Active and Reserve forces, he served in support of Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Provide Comfort, Counter-Drug Operations in Central and South America, and Operation Enduring Freedom. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 2018 with the rank of Captain.

Matt and his wife, Monica (Maceyko), a Poland High School Class of 1984 graduate, reside in Greenville, South Carolina, with their three children. He currently serves as a Global Product Manager for ABB, where he is responsible for the design and sales of AC induction motors used in the marine industry.
