Michael Burns 1976

Michael Burns graduated in 1976 and was a two year letterman in football. He set nine school records as he led the team to an 18-2 record during the 1974 and 1975 seasons. He scored 13 touchdowns during his career. Also, he set career records for yards passing (2,264), touchdown passes (17) which still stands, pass attempts (279), which still stands, passes completed (127) and total yards (1,353). He established single season records for passing yards (1,307), touchdown passes (10), and, in addition, he set single game records for passing yards (299 vs. West Branch in 1974) and also for touchdown passes (3 vs. Canfield in 1974).

Mike received many honors as a result of his successful performance on the gridiron. In 1974, he was voted 2nd Team All-MVVC. In 1975, he was chosen one of the tri-captains, and he was voted 1st Team All-MVVC, 1st Team All-Northeastern Ohio and Honorable Mention All-State.

Mike also was a two-year letterman in basketball, scoring 81 points as a junior and 151 points as a senior. In 1976, he received 2nd Team All-MVVC honors.

After graduating, Mike attended Edinboro State for one year and played football. He then transferred to Kent State where he worked in the Athletic Office and Ticket Office for two years.
