Phil Gallo '00
Phil played Offensive Tackle and Defensive End for the Bulldogs during the 1997-99 seasons. He was a two-way starter for both the 1998 and 1999 seasons and earned three Varsity letters during his time as a Bulldog. As a Senior, Phil was Honorable Mention All-State as a Defensive End. His Junior and Senior years, he appeared on the All-League, All-County and All-Northeast Ohio All-Star teams. He held the school single-season sack (14) and career sack (18) records for over a decade.
The Bulldogs won two conference titles during his stay, and in 1999, the team won the Division III Ohio High School Athletic Association State Championship. Phil was also selected as one of the team captains during the Bulldogs ’99 State Championship season, where they became the first ever football team in OHSAA history to go 15-0 and claim the state title.
After high school, Phil went on to play football at Ashland University on a full athletic scholarship. He was redshirted his freshman year, and went on to start on the Defensive Line for four consecutive years playing both End and Nose Tackle.
