Dr. Allison Rice (DeLuca)

Allison won the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division II State Championship in the discus throw in 2010. Allison was a district and regional discus champion, as well as a regional qualifier in the shot put in 2010. She was a four-year letter winner in track and field. She also held the discus high school record for a few years.

Allison was also a four-year letter winner in tennis, where she played with her twin sister, Julie Rice (Suggs). Allison was a class valedictorian at Poland Seminary High School and then attended Westminster College where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. She was a member of the Westminster College Track and Field Team and was a four-year letter winner. In 2011, she was named the Rookie of the Year for the Westminster College Track and Field Team after finishing second in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship for discus. Allison also placed every year in the PAC Championship in both shot put and discus. She held the indoor shot put record for many years.

Allison received a PhD in inorganic chemistry from The University of Carolina in 2018. Following graduate school, she pursued postdoctoral studies in organic and medicinal chemistry at Wake Forest University. She has taught at The University of South Carolina, Allen University, Wake Forest University, and currently teaches chemistry and physics at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is married to Jeffrey DeLuca and has a son, Jeffrey DeLuca.
