Roger Dyer

Roger Dyer, a 1965 graduate of Poland High School, was one of the school’s outstanding basketball players. He competed on the varsity team from 1962–1965 and earned First Team All Tri-County honors during both his junior and senior seasons. As a senior, he was selected Second Team All Northeast Ohio (NEO), received Honorable Mention All-State recognition, and set an individual school scoring mark by recording 44 points against Fitch in a Poland victory. He also competed in the prestigious Hoyle Tournament.

Following high school, Roger attended Youngstown State University on a basketball scholarship, playing from 1966 to 1969 until a shoulder injury ended his collegiate playing career. After college, he moved to Colorado, where he worked as a timber faller and thinning contractor, and later relocated to Texas, where he worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker.
