Richard Murray '84

Richard Murray was an outstanding three-sport athlete at Poland High School, lettering in basketball, baseball, and football.

In basketball, Richard graduated as Poland's third all-time leading scorer with 1,006 career points. He set school records for rebounds in a season (271) and career rebounds (623). A three-year starter, he earned First Team All-Mahoning Valley Conference honors as both a junior and senior. During his senior season, he also received Honorable Mention Class AAA All-Ohio, Second Team Class AAA All-Northeast Ohio, recognizing him as one of the area's top players.

In baseball, Richard was a three-year letterman who established school single-season records with 7 pitching victories and 88 strikeouts. He helped lead Poland to a Mahoning Valley Conference Championship and a berth in the Ohio Class AA State Semifinals during his junior year.

In football, Richard earned one varsity letter, completing an impressive athletic career as a versatile contributor in three sports and leaving a lasting legacy as one of Poland High School's premier athletes.
