Sean Clayton '03

Sean Clayton, Class of 2003, was one of the most accomplished multi-sport athletes in Poland Seminary High School history, excelling in football, baseball, and basketball. A three-year starting quarterback for the Bulldogs from 2001–2003, Sean finished his senior season with 1,937 passing yards, 19 passing touchdowns, 558 rushing yards, and eight rushing touchdowns. He graduated with 4,629 career total yards and 43 touchdowns, while throwing only 11 interceptions. Sean also set the school’s single-game passing record of 340 yards against Chaney in 2002. His outstanding career earned him First Team All-State honors in 2001 and 2002, as well as selection to the Prep Star Midwest All-Star Team.

Sean accepted a full athletic scholarship to Michigan State University before transferring to Florida Atlantic University (FAU), where he became the starting quarterback under legendary coach Howard Schnellenberger. During his collegiate career, he appeared in both the Alamo Bowl with Michigan State and the New Orleans Bowl with Florida Atlantic.

In baseball, Sean was a three-year letter winner and a two-time All-State selection in 2002 and 2003 while playing first and third base. He also competed in basketball, helping lead the Bulldogs to a 19–1 record during his senior season as the team finished ranked No. 2 in the state.
