Shane Davis '02

Shane Davis, Class of 2002, was a three-year letter winner for the Poland Bulldogs baseball team, where he starred as a catcher and served as team captain during his senior season. As a senior, he batted .565 with 5 home runs and 32 RBIs, leading the Bulldogs to the regional semifinals. As a junior, he hit .458 with 5 home runs and 28 RBIs, while as a sophomore he started every game and batted .441 with 3 home runs and 26 RBIs. Shane earned First Team All-MAC honors three consecutive years, was named The Vindicator Player of the Year in 2002, and received First Team All-State recognition that same season.

Shane continued his baseball career at Eastern Michigan University on a scholarship, where he became a four-year letter winner and helped the Eagles capture two Mid-American Conference (MAC) championships.

In football, Shane was also a three-year letter winner. He served as the long snapper on Poland’s 1999 Division III State Championship team and finished with the second-most receptions on the Bulldogs’ 2001 regional runner-up squad.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Eastern Michigan University, Shane completed a master’s degree in Communication Studies at Western Illinois University. Following coaching positions at Eastern Michigan, the U.S. Air Force, Cleveland State, and Western Illinois, along with serving as an Associate Scout for the Texas Rangers, he became the Pitching Coach for the Youngstown State University Penguins baseball team.
