Scott Friend '72

Scott Friend, Class of 1972, participated in basketball at Poland from 1969–1972. He played on a junior varsity team that finished 18–0, and in his first varsity season the team posted a 22–3 record, winning Tri-County, District, and Regional Championships before reaching the Ohio State Semifinals in Columbus. Scott earned All Tri-County honors during his senior year.

In tennis, Scott and the Poland team were league champions in 1970–71. He and doubles partner Dennis Rose captured the District Doubles Championship. Scott also played baseball for Poland. Beyond athletics, he attended Boys State, was a member of the National Honor Society, the Boys Club, and served on the student council.

After graduating from Poland, Scott attended Grove City College, where he played varsity basketball and tennis. He also received the Inter-Fraternity Athletic Sportsmanship of the Year Award.
