Braeden O’Shaughnessy

Braeden was a four-year starter on the Poland Boys Basketball Team, from 2016 to 2019. During both his sophomore and junior years, he helped lead the team to two All-American Conference titles. In his junior year, they were ranked 3rd in the state in the final AP Poll. In his senior year, Braeden guided the team to an Undefeated NBC Championship, where they also achieved the title of District Champions and advanced to the Regional Semi-Finals. They finished 4th in the state in the final AP Poll.

Braeden holds the record for the most points scored by a sophomore, with a total of 442 points, and reached the milestone of 1,000 points in his senior year, finishing his career with a total of 1,495 points. In recognition of his outstanding performance, Braeden received several accolades throughout his high school career. He was named a 1st Team All-AAC Selection and an OHSBCA District 1 Division II Selection in both his sophomore and junior years, and he was honored as the AAC Player of the Year during his junior year. In the NE8 League during his senior year, he earned 1st Team Selection and Player of the Year honors. Additionally he received a Special Mention All-State selection and was invited to participate in the North-South All-Star Game. Braeden was recognized in the WKBN Starting Five for two consecutive years and was named a WYTV Student Athlete of the Week.

While basketball was one of his passions, Braeden also excelled in baseball, which became his focus after high school. He was a four-year starter on the baseball team at Poland, notably playing in the State Semi-Finals as a freshman and being recognized in the WKBN Diamond Kings his senior year. He continued his baseball career at the collegiate level, playing Division I baseball for four years at Youngstown State University and finishing his final year at Campbell University in North Carolina.
