Tom Fender

Tom Fender was an outstanding basketball and baseball athlete at Poland High School, earning two varsity letters in basketball and three varsity letters in baseball.

In basketball, Tom established school records for both assists in a season (114) and career assists (224). As a senior, he helped lead Poland to a 23–3 record, a Tri-County League Championship, and the Class AA State Semifinals. During his junior season, the team finished 19–2, won another Tri-County League Championship, and advanced to the District Finals. Tom also became the first sophomore to start a varsity game for Poland since the 1950s, highlighting his exceptional talent at an early age.

In baseball, Tom was a three-year letterman and enjoyed one of the most remarkable careers in school history. During his time at Poland, he set or tied 19 school records, demonstrating his outstanding consistency and impact on the program.
