William Van Brocklin

William Van Brocklin served as head football coach at Poland High School from 1954 to 1967, leading the Bulldogs through one of the most successful periods in program history. Over 14 seasons, he compiled an impressive 68–58–3 record.

Coach Van Brocklin guided Poland to Tri-County League Championships in 1960 with an 8–0–1 record and 1961 with a perfect 9–0 record. His teams also established a school-record 19-game unbeaten streak spanning the 1960–1962 seasons.

The 1961 Bulldogs earned statewide recognition by finishing 22nd in Ohio's large-school rankings, highlighting the program's rise under his leadership.

In recognition of his coaching excellence, William Van Brocklin was selected to coach in the 1962 Ohio All-Star Game. In addition to his coaching accomplishments, he dedicated 29 years as a teacher at Poland High School, making a lasting impact on generations of students and athletes.
